Welcome to Belovedgems, a blog about building a bridge between faith and mental health. The author rooted in her faith , her old-soul leads her into adventures to seek spreading hope into the world through a couple of written words.

Hello, my name is hope...

Someone once told me with tears running down their face: "I know why you are here, but you can't make people change."

As I held back my tears and trying to clear my throat, I responded " Yes, you are right. We can never change people.  But I'm here to give you hope, if I do anything in the next couple of minutes I'm here with you, I pray you receive hope."

Depression and anxiety can become a dark place, eventually a deep whole within us difficult to get out from. I know the feeling too well when it seems like no one else understands.  The feeling of being lonely in the midst of the storm, feeling like sleeping all day, going into the shower to cry so no one sees our tears.  An ugly place indeed.  It is a hopeless place in our life in, and we don't know how to help ourselves

We need hope, and it is part of survival.  Without hope, we feel helpless leading to depression and unable to cope with our emotional pain.  Soon leading us to self-harming behaviors like cutting, drugs, alcohols, etc.  Without hope we aren't able to live in peace, we aren't able to function, we are stuck in our mind with a vicious cycle causing us to have anxiety.  Without hope we loose all our strength, we begin to sink into depression.  We need HOPE!

 But first, we need CHRIST!

Did you know why Peter began sinking when he walked on water?  Because he lost focus of Christ, and by losing focus he lost hope.

"And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.   But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, and he cried out, "Lord, save me!"  Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt/" Matthew 14:29-30

So if I come to you tonight, I don't want you to leave this site with out HOPE.  I want to encourage you that if you are going through a storm in which you lost all hope, cry out to Jesus and ask Him to save you, to bring back hope into your life!  If He took a hold of Peter, He would surely carry you through this.  May God come into your life tonight and gently whisper Hope in your ear.

If you happen to know one someone who has recently isolated from family or friends, give them hope.  We aren't here just receive hope but to also give hope through Christ.  Reach out to them for coffee, for a walk or just a talk. Be that hope that individual needs at this moment!

  CHRIST IS OUR HOPE!
