Welcome to Belovedgems, a blog about building a bridge between faith and mental health. The author rooted in her faith , her old-soul leads her into adventures to seek spreading hope into the world through a couple of written words.

The World Cannot Be Trusted

“This world cannot be trusted,” “I lost everything I once held dearly,” “I may lose everything I worked for again; so I’ll stay here and not take the risk,” “I feel safe not investing my emotions or time into someone or something because things will eventually not workout.”

We have our automatic thoughts that carry on with our thinking all the time! It is good to track those thoughts which seem to be the strongest and questioned them. These thoughts may seem a bit reasonable and we may hold them as being completely true. In reality they are a bit distorted.

How many times have we held back from experiencing new things & relationships in life because of bad past experiences?

We tend to divorce away from those emotions which bring back painful memories & believe that this is the healthiest thing do. However, when we do this we are not only disconnecting from achieving new goals in life but we are also disconnecting with others & most importantly we are disconnecting with “the self.” In result, we alienate & withdrawal away to avoid pain.

THE NEGATIVE CYCLE, goes something like this:

Negative thoughts --> Creates doubt/worries --> Produce unpleasant feelings --> Make you feel sad, depressed, anxious, & uptight --> Affect what you do --> Fell disinterested & unmotivated --> confirm your failure.

And it keeps going back and forth.

However, there is hope. It is interesting to point out that we were all created to be relational and that healing occurs when we encounter the love and support of others. Finding someone whom you can connect emotionally & spiritually [God] is the best method; & someone that can bring you deeper in your faith.

Let us rid ourselves from the post-modern views that believe that everything we do must make us feel “good” & “happy.” Some life events are just uncontrollable & sometimes bad things will happened to good people, that is how the world we live in functions. Welcome areas that will bring growth & be transformed in character; challenge your struggles & know that you were created by a relational God who loves you dearly and endlessly.

“Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once & for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately & cares about you watchfully.” 1 Peter 5:7, AMP “...with all humility & gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:2-3, ESV
